The Grief Suite Concert

We will gather Tuesday, July 15th from 7-8:30pm for a concert premiering this new suite of solo, duo and trio improvised works.

Anthony Cox on bass and Nathan Greer on drums will help bring these improvisations to life.

We will play in the resonant upstairs sanctuary space at Zion Community Commons, 1697 Lafond Ave, St Paul. Please note: Seating is wooden pews and this second story space is not wheelchair accessible.

Tickets are pay what you can with a suggested price of $20, because I really want as many people as possible to hear this music and since I learn something new about the pieces every time we play them.

About The Grief Suite

Beginning in April 2024 (with the support of the MN State Arts Board), I undertook a project to create new improvised compositions for small ensembles (solo, duo and trio).

Over the past 15 months, I explored text and graphic scores, live looping, worked with adding improvised accompaniments to “set” melodies, and more. These pieces have once again revolved around the theme of grief and grieving in what I consider my fifth season of grief songwork.

Sarah M. Greer is a fiscal year 2024 recipient of a Creative Individuals grant. This activity is supported by the voters of Minnesota through grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board thanks to a legislative appropriation form the Arts and Cultural Heritage Fund.
